This site is an interactive, 3D model of our solar system, built for anyone curious about the Sun and the 9 major planets that orbit it — from scorched Mercury to the icy edge of Pluto. Scroll your mouse wheel (or swipe on mobile) to travel between a wide view of deep space and a close-up view of the planets in orbit. Click on the Sun or any planet to fly in close and read its facts.

Where the data comes from

Every number on this site — temperature, day and year length, gravity, escape velocity, orbital eccentricity, distance from Earth and from the Sun — is sourced from NASA's published planetary fact sheets and mission data. Distances from Earth are given as a range rather than a single number, because Earth and every other planet are constantly moving along their own orbits, so the gap between any two planets is always changing.
